This workshop is open to all intermediate to advanced guitarists who want to learn about acoustic blues guitar techniques and music.

 

Topics covered will include:

• blues structure
• blues history
• boogies
• running bases
• fingerpicking in standard tuning
• runs and licks
• shuffles
• beginning improvization
• open G tuning
• basic slide technique

This is a hands-on workshop: Be sure to bring your guitar!

Henry has been playing and studying American blues guitar music for over fifty years, and has appeared with such blues legends as Muddy Waters, Houndog Taylor and Tracy Nelson. His CD, Dreamin' the Blues , will be available at the workshop.

Andy, the host/facilitator, is an award-winning musician and beloved music educator. He performs and leads music workshops in many venues, including many years at both MerleFest and the Walnut Valley Festival ("Winfield").

After the workshop, treat yourself to dinner (all-you-can-eat catfish and baby back ribs!!) at Courtney's and a free informal show by Henry, with Andy backing him up, from 6-8 pm!
